Conference Dates: February 2-3, 2018
All undergraduates, graduate students and health care professionals with an interest in global health are encouraged to attend. Join us for a weekend of interprofessional engagement with global health advocates from throughout the midwest.
The theme of Global Health Conference Midwest 2018 is Reimagining Partnerships: A Step towards Global Health Equity. The conference will center around three keynote speakers and includes multiple breakout sessions and panel discussions. On Friday, a documentary will be shown followed by a community fair of local organizations focused on global health. On Saturday, the GHCM 2018 research symposium will take place and conclusion of the conference with the Dr. Robert Townely's Keynote Address.
The breakout sessions and panels will be focused around the following themes: Crisis intervention, mental health, voluntourism/cultural competency, refugee health, and global health initiatives.
Global Health Conference Midwest is proud to offer continuing education credit for health care professionals.
In support of improving patient care, Creighton University Health Sciences Continuing Education is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
Occupational & Physical Therapy
The Boards of Occupational and Physical Therapy Practice do not pre-approve continuing education course offerings, but will accept a continuing education activity when they are planned and conducted for occupational and physical therapists and the continuing education activity relates to the practice of Occupational and Physical Therapy. Each professional is responsible for their own certification.
Mental Health & Social Work
The Board of Mental Health does not pre-approve continuing education course offerings, but may accept as continuing education for licensure and certification renewal, learning experiences, provided they are planned and conducted for mental health practitioners and if they are related to mental health practice. Continuing education offerings for individuals who hold a social work certificate, but are not licensed as a mental health practitioner, must relate to the practice of social work. Each professional is responsible for their own certification.

Selected discussion based breakout sessions have now been IPE passport approved through Creighton University's Center for Interprofessional Practice, Education and Research.

Global Health Conference Midwest (GHCM) is an opportunity for professionals, faculty, and students to connect, collaborate, engage and learn about pertinent and emerging topics in global health. GHCM represents professionals, graduate students, undergraduates, academic faculty, community organizations, and community members. The purpose of the conference is to catalyze action in global health by providing insight into global health issues, promoting a common voice for those interested in global health, fostering talent, and facilitating interprofessional partnerships.
Our mission is an interprofessional effort to address health disparities among marginalized populations nationally and internationally. Through education, advocacy, and service, we aim to raise awareness of global issues by engaging individuals and communities to partner with those who are made vulnerable.
